Sparkly golden Baltic amber in vintage sterling post earrings.
When a clear piece of amber is heated, any inclusions, or air pockets heat at a different temperature and burst. This creates inclusions, which are called sun spangles. The inclusions “sparkle” from within the stone.
Amber isn't really a stone, of course. It's fossilized pine tree resin, and as such, it is an organic substance. There is a compound inside amber, Succinic Acid, which is secreted from the amber when worn against the skin and warmed. When absorbed into the body, it makes you feel good!
If you're not an esoteric "Healing Stones" believer, this is real science. Succinic Acid is an anti-inflammatory, which can ease aching muscles, arthritis, and other types of chronic pain. It also reduces anxiety! Advil and Prozac, move over for Amber!
The Baltics are home to the most wonderful deposits of amber (also known as succinite, of course!). The ancient pine forests over 45 million years ago secreted large amounts of resin as the climate warmed, and created an estimated 100,000 tons of amber.
Baltic Amber is highly prized over all other world localities.
Geometry is all around us.
In nature, plants, animals, crystals, planetary alignments -- in physics, and in mathematics. There are recurrent shapes and patterns throughout everything - they are viewed as symbolic of universal spiritual concepts. Sacred geometry is sometimes viewed as proof of creation - for some the architecture of the universe, and the gemoetry of consciousness.
In Indian tradition, Sri Yantra is a device for spiritual advancement. Its 9 interlocking trianges represent a path toward enlightenment.
