Javelina fetishes are rare....because most people don't know what they are! Let alone ever have seen one. A friend who lives in the southwest sees them on her ranch now and then, and I saw her great photos of the little herds. They are so cute! Like little desert pigs. So when I saw these earrings, I just knew they were for someone special who knows about Javelinas, Or wants to know more!
Is family super-important to you? Are you intensely protective of your loved ones? Javelina may be one of your long lost or never before found animal spirit helpers.
Hand carved turquoise fetishes, with heishi shell beads, and sterling silver bench beads make a great pair of earrings -- a conversation starter! They're not your average bear...
They sure have a cool name. I wondered where they got the name, and discovered it was named by the Spanish, from, not surprisingly, the word for spear. Javelin. It has long pointed dagger-like tusks - great self-defense. It's also known as the Pecarry, which isn't nearly as interesting to think about.
It's native to South and Central America, and the North American Southwest. They run in large groups, and are very loyal to their herds.
The lessons Javelinas can teach us to understand our connection with other people - our own "herd" - and the necessity of being and working together.
Remember, even within the herd, they have excellent defenses -- and offense if needed.
They're also known for their sounds - chattering and grunting, which in some mythology is said to cause the sound of thunder!
So, a thunderous herd of Javelinas chattering...I could see that. I've still never seen one IRL, though!
