About the Labradorite

Said to be first discovered in Labrador, Canada, by Moravian missionaries in 1770, it was referenced in legends by older Inuit tribes, and was known to be in use by the Red Paint People of Maine for over a thousand years.

In legends of the Inuit people, Labradorite fell from the frozen fire of the Northern Lights-- the Aurora Borealis. Like the dark night sky lit by the Aurora, this appearing ordinary stone transforms into shimmering chatoyant light. It is a Stone of Magic, used by shamans, diviners, healers, and light-workers seeking knowledge and guidance of the universe.

Like the Aurora, it creates a shielding force of light throughout the aura. It protects against misfortunes and provides a safe space for your inner exploration and visionary experiences.

Labradorite helps develop the hands' sensitivity, useful for therapists and those who use the power of touch to heal. Imagine holding the sphere within your hands, in its radiant light.

Sometimes called the matriarch of the subconscious mind, Labradorite can surface forgotten memories to allow for deeper understanding and to dispel illusions.

Also known as the "temple of the stars," Labradorite's "labradorescence" is believed to be captured starlight enclosed in the mineral.
