Egyptian Revival Filigree Scarab Necklace

This necklace has had a fascinating past life, and can be reincarnated into your current life!

A beautiful Brass Scarab Filigree Scarab Pendant that is a wonderful example of vintage 1910's Czech Peking Glass. Fashioned in antique brass, with an intricate filigree, this scarab is from the early century Egyptian Revival trend in jewelry.

Scarabs were pervasively popular throughout all the Egyptian Dynasties, as a symbol of eternal life, humility, and good fortune. The Egyptian Revival period in jewelry appeals to the archaeologist in all of us -- and was sparked by the fascinating discoveries in the tombs of Ancient Egypt, such as the tombs of Tutankhamen and Nefertiti.

Peking glass was made to imitate the look of jade, using a technique of dipping blown glass into layers of contrasting glass, which was then cut to reveal the layers and textures underneath.  At the turn of the last century, Czech glassmakers adopted the original Chinese technique. The jewelry pieces made from Czech Peking glass have become highly collectible.

I adore this necklace! I know you will love it.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum
